What i’m researching
The following is an excerpt from a paper from 1981 called “Pamunkey Housebuilding: An Experimental Study of Late Woodland Construction Technology In The Powhatan Confederacy” by Errett Callahan:
“The problem under investigation is the gap in the archaeological record concerning housing patterns among the Pamunkey Tribe of the Powhatan cultural area (Virginia Coastal Plain) during the terminal Late Woodland period (1600 AD). Little is know about how houses were constructed, how well they performed at meeting climatic stress, how houses were organized spatially within communities, or how houses articulated with their local natural environment.”
Quote i’m pondering
“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure… than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” – Theodore Roosevelt
